Wedding Day Exclusive: Meghan Markle chose American Classic for “something blue.”
In the midst of English tradition, bride Meghan Markle kept a little bit of America in her wedding. Through the tradition of “something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue,” she decided that she would make her something blue an American classic - a can of Bud Light tucked into her garter.
“I sat down and really thought long and hard,” Markle said, “about ‘What captures the essence of America?’ and it became clear - Bud Light. I thought it would be a way to close a chapter in my life before starting a new one where I have to pretend that hot tea is actually good.” She said that timing is everything with a long ceremony, because “nobody likes a warm beer.”
Concerned about the resulting behavior of the crowd watching the royal wedding, the Palace guard were ordered to shoot anyone who even began to shout "Dilly Dilly" during the ceremony. Additionally, Markle's family was asked not to wear “Back to Back World War Champs” hats to the wedding because it apparently "Isn't black tie.”
There has been an overwhelming show of support from the United States, mainly from fraternities, who gave statements like “The only thing I really wanted in this world was for her to shotgun that Bud Light before she went down the aisle” and the community reached a general consensus that they didn’t think Markle could “get any hotter.”
Bud Light attempted a new recipe to give Markle a “something new” in conjunction with her “something blue,” by trying to make a new royal wedding champagne themed beer - but soon realized they just made a worse Miller High Life. Bud Light offered to fly over a few cases for the reception to carry on American traditions - like beer pong and your Uncle Frank having one too many then starting a conversation that threatens to tear the whole family apart. The royal family has politely declined.
